SpywareBlaster is an excellent program because it requires virtually no overhead (processing power) to use it. It protects against most of the worst spyware objects by setting what are called 'killbits' into the registry. When I was using AdAware on a weekly basis to remove spyware I would get about 50 or 60 objects weekly with my normal surfing. After installing SpywareBlaster that number went down to 3 or 4. I just stopped them dead! They did not need to be removed because they never got on in the first place.
Down load the program from Download Spywareblaster and make sure you keep track of where you saved it. If you just got lost and have not read the main entry page yet go here for downloading information and explanation. If you are familiar with downloading you should see the following:

Next go to the file that got downloaded and run it. The install will go through all the normal stuff. Accept the license agreement, let it default to its standard folder, then check to put an icon on the desktop. until the end where you must configure the program. The first screen you see will be:

Just press the next button and then you will get this:

Here you need to select (click) the button (circle) next to Manual Updating. In the 'Free' version this is necessary and is not a problem. Just remember that most of the 'Free' programs we download will need to be updated before using them. Always make sure your protection programs are current! Now click on Next and Finish and you will come to the entry page for the program.

Our objective here is to get the latest updates and then enable them. Downloading the updates at the bottom of the screen only gets them to you then you must 'Enable All Protection' to enter them to the Windows Registry. After they have been enabled you should see a relatively current date and '0 items have protection disabled' in all three fields in the box. When they are done it will look like this:

You are now Protected! When you downloaded the updates you could have enabled the downloads immediately or gone to the 'Protection Status' page and done it there. If you are curious and want to see which spyware items you are protected against you can click on the '0 items have protection disabled' link and it will give you a list. It is a long list so be prepared.
I recommend updating and enabling every week or two since updates do not come out as frequently as some programs.
Just remember, there is nothing to run after updating since it is a proactive block list.
